START WITH THE MATERIAL AND THE INTENDED ENVIRONMENT

Choose a composting route for the actual coffee bag

We have made white kraft-paper bags with PLA-based films, including PLA/PBAT laminates. We choose the paper, films, printing and accessories together to suit your coffee and the composting option you want.

Industrial or commercial composting

Industrial composting uses managed facilities with defined processing conditions. Ask which conditions the proposed bag’s documents cover, and check acceptance with the collection program or facility your customers will use.

Home composting

Home composting has different conditions from industrial composting. Tell us at the start if you need this option. We will explain the proposed construction and available documentation before you approve home-composting wording.

Review the full material specification

We can explain the paper and film layers, thickness, barrier features and accessories proposed for your order. Ask us which parts of the bag the available composting documents cover.

If you are still comparing directions, share your coffee and sales locations. We can discuss the information needed for the bag while you confirm an appropriate collection and treatment route.

SPECIFY THE BAG AS IT WILL BE SUPPLIED

Choose the Material & Compatible Accessories

We select the paper and films, valve, closure, printing and seals together. Before you approve disposal instructions, we will explain the proposed construction and the coverage of the available documents.

KEEP COFFEE PERFORMANCE IN THE SPECIFICATION

Match the bag to your coffee and packing process

Tell us whether you pack whole beans or ground coffee, your net fill, packing method, storage conditions and intended sales period. We can use that brief to discuss the material and checks needed for your project.

We help you choose the film layers, final seal and any valve for your coffee protection needs. Use the material information and samples to check the bag with your coffee, equipment and intended storage conditions.

Flat bottom coffee bags

A flat base and separate panels give you room for branding, coffee details and disposal instructions. Compare our 12 oz and 2 lb bags below, then we can help you choose a size for your coffee.

Stand up coffee pouches

A bottom gusset lets the filled pouch stand upright. Our white kraft-paper pouch below shows this format. We can help you choose the size and accessories, then supply a suitable sample to check the fill and seal space.

Side gusset coffee bags

Side gussets create a taller coffee bag shape. If you want this format with compostable materials, tell us the fill weight, valve and closure you need. We will explain the combinations available for your order.

CONNECT THE ROUTE, THE BAG AND THE CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS

Plan for the market where your coffee will be sold

Share your sales locations and the route you want customers to use. A local retail range and a nationwide online business may need different collection information and packaging instructions.

Confirm collection and facility acceptance

Check whether your local collection program and receiving facility accept the finished coffee bag. Food-scrap services can have specific packaging rules. Use their current guidance when preparing customer instructions.

Match the claim to the documented bag

Identify the product and configuration covered by any test report or certification, including its industrial or home scope. Check proposed wording and any required permission for certification marks before artwork approval. Keep the instructions specific to the supported bag and route.

If the route is still uncertain

We can help you compare compostable, recyclable and conventional barrier materials while you check local collection options. Choose the material and disposal instructions once you know which program your customers can use.

BEGIN WITH YOUR BRAND, EVEN WITHOUT FINISHED ARTWORK

Free design for your custom coffee packaging

Have a logo, a coffee range or a visual idea? We provide free packaging design and unlimited revisions. After you approve the design, we prepare layered production files at no extra charge for the agreed bag dimensions and printing requirements.

Share your coffee and design direction

Send your logo, coffee information and design references. Tell us the bag format and composting option you want. We can help with the artwork while you choose the remaining specifications.

Develop the panels together

We can help organize brand graphics, coffee details and the information you want customers to read. Review panel dimensions, folds, valve or zipper placement and the final sealing areas before the layout is approved.

Review composting wording and marks

We can arrange composting instructions and approved marks on your artwork. Any certification mark needs permission for the bag you order, and the wording needs to match the conditions covered by its documents.

Approve the design and prepare production files

We offer digital and gravure printing. We will help you choose the method, review the artwork for your size and film, then prepare the layered production files free of charge after you approve the design.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU CONFIRM THE SPECIFICATION

Compostable coffee packaging questions

1. What does compostable coffee packaging mean for my order?

We help you choose materials and accessories for a specified composting environment. Ask for the documents relevant to the finished construction, then check whether the collection program or facility in your sales area accepts the bag.

2. What is the difference between industrial and home composting?

Industrial composting uses managed facilities and processing conditions. Home composting is a different environment with a different assessment scope. Evidence for industrial composting does not automatically support a home-composting claim. Specify the intended environment and review evidence covering the actual bag before agreeing instructions.

3. Does paper, PLA or a compostable material description prove the finished bag is compostable?

No. Those descriptions identify a material direction or part of a specification. The finished bag also includes films, adhesives, accessories, inks and seals. Request evidence that applies to the full proposed configuration and intended environment rather than extending a material or component result to everything supplied.

4. Can I request home-compostable coffee packaging?

Tell us at the start if you need home composting. We will explain the available material combinations and the documents for the proposed bag before you approve any home-composting claim.

5. Can a bag have a valve and zipper in a compostable direction?

Yes. We have made paper/PLA flat bottom bags with PLA valves, including a version with a zipper. We can help you choose compatible components for your film, coffee and intended composting conditions.

6. Can customers put the bag in a food-scrap or garden-waste bin?

Check the actual collection program's current guidance. A service accepting food scraps or garden waste may have different rules for packaging. Confirm that the finished coffee bag is accepted and follow the supported instructions. Do not assume that access to a bin establishes an appropriate route for every compostable bag.

7. Can compostable coffee bags go in ordinary plastic recycling?

Do not direct compostable plastics into ordinary plastic recycling. They can disrupt that recycling stream. Confirm the route supported for the actual bag with the relevant local program or facility. If an appropriate composting route is unavailable, review the packaging options and customer instructions before finalizing the order.

8. Are biodegradable, plant based and compostable the same thing?

No. They describe different attributes. A plant-based description concerns material origin, while biodegradation depends on the environment and conditions. A compostable claim needs evidence for the intended composting environment. None of these words alone establishes how a finished coffee bag should be collected or treated.

9. Will the compostable direction provide the barrier and shelf life I need?

We can help you choose barrier layers and accessories for your coffee and packing process. Tell us the storage period you need, then check the proposed bag with your coffee and storage conditions before setting a shelf-life claim.

10. Which bag formats and sizes can I discuss?

We make flat bottom bags, stand-up pouches and side gusset bags in custom sizes. Compare the 12 oz and 2 lb examples above, then tell us your coffee weight and filling method. We will help you select the dimensions and available material combination.

11. Can you help with the design and composting wording?

Yes. We provide free design and unlimited revisions, then free layered production files after design approval. We can help arrange the wording and graphics for the agreed bag. Environmental instructions and third-party marks need supporting information and any required permission before they are approved for printing.

12. What documents and certification details should I request?

Ask what the document covers, which product it identifies and whether its scope is industrial or home composting. Where certification is proposed, confirm current product coverage and label permission. BPI and TÜV AUSTRIA have distinct composting scopes to check. Factory or food-contact documentation is separate from evidence for a finished-bag compostability claim.

13. Can I review samples before ordering?

Yes. Free samples of similar materials are available, and custom sample fees are refunded when you place an order. Confirm what the sample represents and any shipping costs. Use it to review appearance, filling, sealing and handling alongside the applicable material, component and finished-bag information.

14. What are the MOQ, price and delivery time?

MOQ and pricing depend on the material, format, dimensions, accessories, printing and quantity. Request a quote for your brief. Production is 7–12 days and shipping is 7–10 days. Door-to-door shipping with taxes included is available; confirm the agreed specification, quantity, delivery arrangement and quoted costs for your order.
