Start with Three Packaging Questions

Tell us what you pack, how you fill your bags and where you sell your coffee. These details help us recommend a format, size and material.

01

What Are You Packing?

Tell us whether you pack whole beans or ground coffee, and the weight you want in each bag. An actual coffee sample helps you assess fit before confirming dimensions.

02

How Will You Fill and Seal It?

Share how you fill and seal your coffee bags, including any equipment requirements. Check the filling opening, sealing area and clearance needed for your process before confirming the bag specification.

03

Where Will It Be Sold and Stored?

Describe your retail, online or wholesale channel, your sales market and expected storage conditions. These details help you review presentation, material protection and the separate shipping packaging you may need.

Compare Coffee Bag Formats

Each format has a different shape, opening and layout for your artwork. Compare the options below, then we can help you select the material and accessories.

01

Flat Bottom Coffee Bags

Flat bottom coffee bags have a flat base and several panels for artwork. Also known as box bottom bags, they offer a structured shape to consider for retail presentation.

Check the base and gusset dimensions, filling opening, top seal area and the position of any valve or zipper.

Stand-Up Coffee Pouches

Stand-up coffee pouches use a bottom gusset that expands as the pouch is filled. The front and back provide space for your branding and product information.

Review the filled shape, usable volume, sealing clearance and reclosure options using your actual coffee and packing process.

Side Gusset Coffee Bags

Side gusset coffee bags have expanding panels along the sides. Consider them for retail or wholesale coffee packaging where this bag shape fits your packing and presentation requirements.

Check the side gusset, seal configuration, filling opening and valve position. Review how the filled bag will be presented and handled.

Compare formats using the same coffee fill and packing requirements. A weight label alone does not define a finished bag’s dimensions.

Build Your Coffee Packaging Specification

Once you have a format in mind, review these four parts together. A change to one detail can affect the space, material or production requirements of the others.

Define the Fill and Dimensions

Start with the target coffee weight, then review width, height and gusset measurements. Coffee bean size, roast and grind can affect how a given weight fits inside the bag. Leave space for filling and the final seal.

Whether you are planning a 250g, 12 oz or 1kg pack, confirm the fit with your coffee rather than choosing dimensions from the weight label alone.

Choose the Complete Material Structure

Discuss the protection your coffee needs against oxygen, moisture and light, alongside storage conditions and sealing requirements. Review the complete structure, including its inner sealing layer and any functional components.

Kraft coffee bags offer a paper appearance, but the complete structure determines how the finished bag performs and how it should be handled after use.

Review Printing and Surface Finishes

Tell us how many bags and designs you need, and whether you expect repeat orders. We will help you choose digital or gravure printing and a finish that suits the film.

Use the screen proof to check the layout, then compare physical samples for color, gloss and feel.

Specify Valves, Zippers and Openings

Review each feature against its job in the finished pack:

  • Degassing valve: discuss gas release, placement and compatibility with the material.
  • Zipper: review reclosure after opening and its position below the filling seal.
  • Opening details: plan how the customer first opens the pack.
  • Window: review the display area alongside the required light protection and material structure.

Make Sustainability Part of the Specification

We offer recyclable and compostable material options alongside conventional barrier films. Tell us the disposal option you want, and we will help you select a material that also suits your coffee and sealing process.

Recyclable Coffee Packaging

Discuss a structure designed for a specified recycling stream. Review the complete bag, including valves, zippers and labels, against the collection and processing available in your sales market.

Compostable Coffee Packaging

Discuss the intended composting route, the conditions it requires and the documentation that applies to the complete packaging. Confirm the material and components for your project before finalising the artwork and disposal instructions.

Coffee Packaging Questions

Can the same bag format be used for whole beans and ground coffee?

Yes. We make bags for both whole beans and ground coffee. Tell us the coffee type and weight, and we will help you choose a size and material. Try a sample with your coffee to check the fit and sealing space.

How do I choose a coffee bag size?

Provide the coffee weight, product type and any existing bag dimensions. Width, height, gusset and sealing clearance all affect the fit. Review a sample using your coffee before confirming the production specification.

Do a valve and zipper replace the final filling seal?

A degassing valve helps release gas from a sealed package, and a zipper provides reclosure after opening. Each serves a different purpose. Your filling process still needs an appropriate final seal for the selected bag and material.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom coffee bags?

MOQ depends on the format, material, dimensions, printing method and artwork versions. Share the approximate quantity you are considering so we can review a suitable specification and quotation. The minimum is confirmed for the project.

Does a kraft appearance mean a bag is recyclable or compostable?

Kraft paper provides the outer look; the films inside determine the bag’s protection and disposal options. We offer several kraft laminates and can help you choose conventional, recyclable or compostable materials for your order.

Can I request food-contact and certification documents?

Yes. Relevant documentation is available privately on request. Mention your intended packaging and sales market in your enquiry so we can share the appropriate information for the project.

How should I plan several coffee products or artwork versions?

Send the fill weight, quantity and artwork for each design. We will help you choose a printing method and prepare consistent layouts across your coffee range.
